Evaluation of methods for measuring tool-chip contact length in wet machining using different approaches (microtextured tool, in-situ visualization and restricted contact tool)

چکیده

Abstract The contact length is one of the most important factors to evaluate chip formation process and mechanical loads in metal cutting. Over years, several methods identify were developed. However, especially for wet cutting processes determination still challenging. In this paper, three dry Ti6Al4V AISI4140 + QT are presented, discussed analyzed. first approach uses tools with a microtextured rake face. By evaluating microstructures on chip, new method established. second applies high speed recordings length. challenge thereby application high-speed under conditions. third approach, restricted used. It shown that all reduced using working fluid.
